Onawhim was created by Candace Huber. Candace is a graphic illustrator from Maine with three children. In order to keep her kids entertained, she often downloads art projects, coloring pages, or flash games from the web.

Doing this she learned that there was a need for more "original" art coloring pages. Most of the coloring pages available are mass produced clipart or popular cartoons. To remedy the problem, Candace created her own line of original art coloring pages with overwhelming results. People loved them.

The original intent behind Onawhim was to create a place for Candace to sell her own line of whimsical art products. Life, however, had a change of plans for her. As hard as she tried, she just couldn't find the time to continue with her art kits or produce her whimsical paintings. She took the summer off to brainstorm the situation.

During this time, her website sat idle yet her art section gained more and more popularity. That's when she dreamt up the idea of featuring other artists on her site. Artists that wouldn't normally produce coloring pages or art projects yet have amazing art and ideas that kids would love.

Candace didn't know how the art world would respond to her idea. But she went ahead and asked anyhow. To her surprise, other artists thought it would be a great idea too! Now, Onawhim is no longer about Candace but about the amazing artists that live in this world and all the incredible kids that will get a chance to experience their work.

Onawhim suddenly has a mind of it's own. It is a place where artists can reach out to the world in a new way. Many of the artists here never dreamt of creating coloring pages or sharing their art ideas with kids. Yet somehow we've all partnered together to create an incredible and unique interactive art portal for kids.
