Shano is a self-taught outsider artist who
has studied art history at California State University of
Northridge, as well as the University of Utah. "I learned
the most from the only two instructive art classes that
I completed, which were two semesters of fashion drawing
at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in
Sherman Oaks, California." She now works full time
creating high-contrast, bold figurative pieces for paintings
and images for up and coming clothing and purse designers,
as well as other bath & beauty orientated products.
Born in Michigan and moved to Southern California at fourteen
years old, she has a bit of farm girl meets the big city
life reflected in her art. She has tagged herself as some
what of a gypsy, living in Palm Springs, Sherman Oaks, Santa
Barbara, Park City, Utah, Hermosa Beach, Antelope Valley
and then on to numerous Seattle-area residences and finally
on to Camano Island where she currently resides with her
husband, two young children, three horses, three cats, and
a dog.
